FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Analog signal conditioner - deviation control/monitoring

Omniflex Signal Conditioner Leaders release special function analog transmitter - Omniterm TFX

The Omniterm Universal Special Function Module suitable for special applications where mathematical computations are required on analog signals. The TFX accepts two 1 to 5 V or 4 to 20 mA inputs and provides one universal output. The device comes equipped with a wide selection of common mathematical functions.

Deviation monitoring

Many plant-monitoring systems require deviation monitoring and/or control of flow, temperature, pressure, vibration - amongst other process variables. In deviation monitoring the difference between the signals is the important issue and the level of the signal of lesser importance to the process. Sometimes the absolute difference is required, ie, output is positive irrespective of whether Input B is greater than A or visa-versa. A bi-polar output may also be required for control, ie, -10 mA to + 10 mA or as a voltage. The TFx caters for all these options with its universal output, which the user can range using Windows, based configuration tools and an RS232 programming cable.

A user configurable 32-point linearisation table enables TFx to solve a wide range of signal processing applications such as belt slip monitoring, dual-redundant analog inputs, ratio monitoring, rate-of-change monitoring etc.

The TFX Features include:

* Select from a wide range of computation functions.

* Fully configurable by the user.

* Accepts two 4 to 20 mA or 1 to 5 V d.c. inputs.

* One universal 0 to 20 mA/0 to +10 V/0 to +10 mA or;

* Output isolation to 1,5 kV a.c.

Cost effective: low set up costs

The TFX is not limited to deviation monitoring and is packed with options catering for a plethora of applications making it cost effective for signal conditioning applications where small numbers of signals are concerned. With one unit covering so many applications spares holding is minimised and plant up time optimised with configuration saved and downloaded via the RS232 programming port.

Transfer functions include:

* Integration (pulse output).

* Square root integration.

* Hi/lo follower.

* Multiply/divide or ratio.

* Deviation monitoring - absolute value.

* Average value.

* Linearisation (square root, log 10, Ln, Sin, Cos).

* Rate function - ramp limiter and rate of change.

* Track functions - track and hold, peak and valley.

Configuration management

The powerful but intuitive configuration software ensures the maximum instrument flexibility with reliable configuration management to ensure all instruments on the plant are always correctly configured to the design requirements specification.
