Advanced Condition Monitoring Systems by Omniflex

Managing remote asset condition is no longer a major undertaking. This requires remote monitoring which can be hugely expensive. The Teleterm M3 RTU with its integrated radio & PLC make it ideally suited for any remote condition monitoring operation

Managing remote asset condition is no longer a major undertaking. Assets like pumps and motors require ongoing maintenance and valuable “up-time” is compromised by missed preventive maintenance interventions. Predicting when intervention is necessary is essential to enterprise performance at all levels, with pressure on staffing head count the emphasis fall to effective usage of assets being either people, machinery or finances.

Condition Monitoring looks at logging typical plant Statuses and manages them chronologically:
Typical Field condition parameters

  • Pump Control Status
  • Run, Trip
  • Run Hours
  • Bearing Temp
  • Sump
  • Suction Pressure
  • Dam Levels
  • Power Consumption
  • Flow Rate
  • Vibration

Remote monitoring requires infrastructure to gather the information:  Networking, Telemetry, Data Acquisition, SCADA. This infrastructure gets hugely expensive the more distributed the assets are.

Omniflex provides local condition monitoring using Human Machine Interfaces ( touch screen HMI) for visually representing the status of the asset locally. The HMI can also Interface to almost any PLC (300+ types) and is connected to an Omniflex Data Access Point (DAP) which uses GSM communications to gather the data from any outstation to a WEB Based Service.Data2Desktop. Using the GSM infrastructure means low in-house cost and a reliable service for data acquisition.

The Omniflex DAP is a versatile RTU. This full functionality IEC61131 PLC enables both control and wireless communications to exist in a single package with flexible I/O and sub net communication interfaces for VSDs and other Serial devices including Power Meters.

The system comprises as many DAPs as required to service each remote site housed in a weatherproof housing with a built-in PSU with stand by batteries.
Remote Site DAP features:

  • Optional local control option with HMI for a fully visualized system
  • Automatic retrieval of Data Periodically
  • Trigger update on change of state ie Trip or Alarm.
  • Ethernet, RS485, USB, RS232
  • Interface to over 300+ PLC types (Preserves Legacy Investment)
  • Runs off stand by batteries in event of power failure.

Web Based Condition Monitoring Services

  • 24/7/365 Monitoring
  • Access to Data from anywhere with a web browser
  • Aggregation of Data Collected
  • Compare similar installations by performance.
  • Automatic Mobilization of Field service staff to Alarms/Trips via Mobile phone
  • Automatic Reporting to email addresses
  • Automatic Alarm Alert to Mobile Phone or Email.
  • Accurate down time analysis.
  • Field Service efficiency
  • Basic Analytics (eg Trending Vibration or Temperature over time)
  • Export Data to Excel for further analysis
