Mittal Steel Chooses Omniflex for DCS Front End
When Mittal Steel Newcastle looked to invest in extensive upgrades to their plant wide utilities management information system, a major factor would be the cost of specialised cabling, potential plant downtime during installation, and additional remote I/O. Consideration was also needed to be given to the harsh environment.
After reviewing a number of proposals, Mittal chose Omniflex to provide the complete Data Acquisition system including the interface to the Legacy DCS using the well proven Maxiflex I/O system, due its proven track record, flexibility and capability of reliable industrial strength communications over existing plant wiring up to 10km.
